A Day of SIV Training in Ölüdeniz: What Actually Happens

Morning: The Briefing

The day starts on the ground. Your instructor runs through every manoeuvre you will fly — what you will do, what the wing will do, and exactly how the recovery works. Questions are welcome; that is what the briefing is for. If you are new to SIV, the first day starts with pitch control and gentle collapses.

Midday: The Flights

You ride the cable car up Babadağ and fly out over the water. Radio guidance keeps you in constant contact with your instructor. One flight, one manoeuvre family at a time: collapses first, then stalls and spins as the days progress. Below you the whole time: the lagoon, the rescue boat, and your life jacket.

Afternoon: The Debrief

Every flight ends with a debrief, usually with video. You will see exactly what the wing did and what your inputs did to it. That loop — fly, watch, understand, fly again — is how the reactions become automatic.

Prices and Rental

• SIV training: 200 € a day.
• Life jacket rental: 5 € a day.
