What to Wear for Paragliding in Ölüdeniz
Wear closed shoes you can run a few steps in, comfortable clothes that suit the season, and sunglasses. Bring a light layer because Babadağ is cooler than the beach. Leave loose items, sandals and anything you cannot secure at the office.
The short list
| Wear | Bring | Leave behind |
|---|---|---|
| Trainers or closed walking shoes | Sunglasses | Flip-flops and sandals |
| Shorts or trousers you can move in | Sunscreen | High heels |
| T-shirt or light top | Light jacket or fleece | Loose jewellery |
| A light layer for the mountain | Water | Selfie stick or loose camera |
| Hair tied back | Booking confirmation | Drone (ask first; sites may restrict) |
The operator supplies the helmet, harness, wing and, in cooler weather, a flight suit. You do not need special gear.
Shoes are the most important item
Takeoff is a short run down a slope. Landing is a few steps onto the beach or the promenade. You need shoes that stay on your feet and grip the ground.
Trainers or closed walking shoes are ideal. Running shoes are fine. Hiking boots are fine but heavier than necessary. Do not wear flip-flops, slides, sandals, high heels or anything that can slip off. The local flight directive specifically rules out slippers and sandals.
If you forgot proper shoes, ask the operator. Some offices lend trainers or flight boots, but sizes are limited. Do not assume your size will be available in peak season.
Clothing by season
| Season | What to wear | What to add |
|---|---|---|
| Summer (June–September) | T-shirt, shorts or light trousers, trainers | Sunglasses, sunscreen, water |
| Spring and autumn (April–May, October–November) | T-shirt, light fleece or jacket, long trousers | Windproof layer, closed shoes |
| Winter (December–March) | Warm base layer, fleece, windproof jacket, long trousers | Gloves, warm socks, beanie under the helmet |
| Sunset flight | Same as the day, plus a warm layer | The temperature drops quickly after sunset |
Babadağ is about 1,700 to 1,900 m high, and the launch can be 10 to 15 °C cooler than the beach. Even on a hot day, the wind at the launch can feel cold once you are airborne.
Will I get a flight suit?
Most operators provide a flight suit for each passenger, especially in cooler weather. You wear it over your clothes, so a t-shirt and shorts or light trousers underneath are fine. Ask before you fly if you are unsure.
A flight suit protects your clothes from the harness and the wind. It also makes you more visible in photos. If you are flying in summer and the operator does not provide one, dress in light layers that cover your skin.
Sunglasses and sunscreen
Sunglasses are not a fashion accessory on this flight. They cut the glare from the sea and protect your eyes from the wind. Bring a pair that fits securely; loose glasses can slip during the launch.
Sunscreen matters more than people expect. You are outside for an hour or more, and the sun reflects off the sea. Apply before you leave the hotel, and bring a small tube if you burn easily.
Hair, jewellery and loose items
- Tie long hair back so it does not blow into your face or the pilot's.
- Remove loose jewellery, especially necklaces and earrings that could catch on the harness.
- Empty your pockets. Keys, coins and phones can fall out during the launch.
- Do not carry a selfie stick or a loose action camera. The pilot controls the footage.
- Ask before bringing a drone. Launch sites and landing areas may restrict them.
Most offices have a locker or a box for your belongings. You get them back after landing.

What to wear for photos
You will be photographed against the Blue Lagoon and the Mediterranean. Bright colours, white, red, yellow and turquoise, stand out against the blue water. All-black clothing can look flat in the shade of the wing.
Avoid loose scarves, long flowing skirts or anything that can flap into the harness. Comfort and safety come first. The best photo is the one where you are relaxed.
