P2 is where everyone starts. Most of the course is on the ground: you learn how the wing works and how to control it before you ever leave the slope. Then you make your first short flights from low training hills with an instructor on the radio.

What it allowsSolo flights only, no passengers.

- Height 1.5–2.1 m, weight 40–120 kg

To complete the level

- Written and practical assessment, 75% pass mark
- Course length: usually about 7 days, depending on weather
